Frequency studies as basis for improvement initiatives

Immenso carries out frequency studies in connection with analysis of the potential for improvement in enterprises. When the results of a survey are ready, Management will be ale to improve their prioritisation of efforts for the purpose of achieving improvements.

A frequency study is a work study which can be carried through easily and quickly. The study can be used to obtain quantitative data for the performance in an enterprise.

The frequency study is applicable within many different work processes, for instance, allocation of the time spent in a customer service department, in a storage facility, in a shop, on a construction site, in an office or production department, etc.

The frequency study applies a sample technique, which means that the results are statistically valid. This makes the results less open to discussion, and you would quickly be able to proceed with the improvements.
The frequency study measures processes and not people. The manner in which employees work is controlled by the activities involved in the work process which they have been employed to perform. Accordingly, the results are applied for improving the work process with the objective of making employees work smarter - not faster.

A frequency study assisted by Immenso proceeds as follows:

• Decision as to what is to be measured, why, how and when
• The activities of the measured assignment are defined with the enterprise's project group
• A pre-study is performed by which the parameters of the study are adjusted
• Preparation, including training, if more study technicians are to be involved
• The main study is performed
• Processing of results
• Presentation of results to project group
• Identification of areas for improvement and efforts.

We often adjust the approach from project to project so that the enterprise achieves optimum value from a frequency study.

In our experience, you could benefit from involving the persons to be observed in the subsequent work of identification of areas for improvement and efforts as these are most often the employees with the best solutions.

We believe in dialogue among the parties - this improves results as well as the working environment.
We are happy to share our experience in frequency studies.
